Acuity

If you were not here yesterday, scroll down to yesterday's entry and click on the STAR Reading link to take that test.

Everyone else, you need to take the Acuity exam for the 2nd 9 weeks today. Your username is your student number; your password is the first letter of your first name and the first four letters of your last name.

Acuity Test <= click here for Acuity. Complete the reading test.

If you already took the test with Mrs. Engnes, continue working on your essay. Follow the guidelines from Monday to format your essay. I will be very picky about this!

When you have finished typing your essay, copy and paste the essay into Essay Check in WV Writes. Essay Check is a prompt I opened up for you. To copy and paste the essay, highlight your essay and push Ctrl + C, then click on the text box in WV Writes and push CTRl + V. Push OK if necessary.
Submit the essay and revise your essay based on the suggestions that WV Writes makes. If you have anything less than a 4, you need to keep working.

When you have finished all of that, work on another prompt for WV Writes. The goal is all fours!

Bell-ringer and Instructions 1/27/2014

Bell-ringer:

Directions: Write the following sentences and then define the underlined words using context clues.

 1. The facetious video you showed us made my family die from laughter.
 2. That puzzle was so facile that even my baby sister could solve it.
 3.  We only have a facsimile of the Mona Lisa, not the real one.
 4. My father is too fastidious; nothing I do is ever good enough for him.
 5. The fealty of the soldier’s dog was inspiring; it even stayed beside his coffin.

 Instructions:
 1. After you have finished the bell-ringer, begin typing the essay your wrote in class the last time we were in class.
 2. Your essay should be written with a 12-point font, Arial, Times New Roman, or Calibri.
 3. Your essay should be double-spaced without an extra space between the paragraphs. If you do not know how to format your essay correctly, then you need to ask Mr. Spivy for help.
 4. In the top left-hand corner, you need to head your paper with your name, your teacher's name, the class (Reading/Language Arts) and the finish date.
 5. The title of the essay (which should be an original title) will be centered at the top after the heading.
 6. After you have finished typing your essay, you need to copy and paste it into WV Writes. I have opened up the prompt called "Essay Check" for this purpose. After submitting your essay, make any edits that you deem necessary after reviewing the suggestions from WV Writes.
